This district was established in 2005. Originally farm lots for Oglethorpe's 1733 plan, its development is largely associated with the electrification of Savannah's streetcar lines in the 1888. Its boundaries roughly follow that of the Thomas Square Streetcar National Register Historic District which is so named for its historic Thomas Square park. The Historic Preservation Commission reviews demolition, new construction, and other major projects; all other exterior work is reviewed by Preservation staff.
