This conservation district was established in 2020. Conceived and planned in 1947, the "Carver Village Exclusive Colored Housing Development" was the first of its kind. The purpose of the district is to preserve the character of Savannah's older and historic neighborhoods. Proposed demolition of contributing buildings is reviewed by Historic Preservation Commission to ensure historic buildings are preserved and the character of the district is maintained.
